The technology
Vitals AI reads two signals from a single video. The first is rPPG (remote photoplethysmography), an optical method with more than 15 years of published research: the camera detects subtle changes in light reflected from the skin as blood flows with each heartbeat. The second is rBCG (remote ballistocardiography), the tiny head and body movements each heartbeat produces, too small to see but enough for a camera to register. Together, they give the model two complementary views of each heartbeat: optical changes from blood flow and tiny mechanical movements from the pulse. For the full mechanism, see how rPPG works.
Validation
Vitals AI is available as two models: a general wellness model, and a CE MDR Class IIa certified medical-device model for regulated use. Both are powered by an rPPG and rBCG engine that has been independently benchmarked against clinical reference devices.

Security & privacy
Vitals AI processes scans on the device. During standard scan processing, raw video is not uploaded or stored; only derived results are sent to the platform. Those results are encrypted in transit and at rest, with platform-level controls governing access and data handling.

Vitals AI is the evolution of Upvio's earlier FaceVitals product, under a new name with an updated platform and signal set.

Heart rate came within 1-3 bpm of hospital ECG, and the model was evaluated across Fitzpatrick I-VI skin types and data from five continents. Blood pressure is an estimate, and stress is modelled. Do people need an app or any hardware?
No. Vitals AI runs in the browser on a compatible laptop, tablet or phone with a camera. There is no app to download, wearable to issue or device to pair. Touch Point is the exception: it runs as an app on a tablet or kiosk for in-person settings.
What does Vitals AI cost, and can I try it first?
You can try a single Vitals AI scan for free. For ongoing use, Vitals AI starts at $500 for 500 scans and one month of full platform access. Larger or custom deployments can be discussed with the sales team.
Is Vitals AI a medical device?
Vitals AI is primarily offered as a general wellness product. For workflows that require a regulated medical device, a CE MDR Class IIa certified model is also available for core vital-sign measurements.
